Allegations Lead to Immediate Suspension of Political Duties
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has temporarily relieved MP Sanele Zondo from his parliamentary duties following accusations of domestic abuse made by his wife, Simenyiwe Dlomo-Zondo, in an emotionally charged Instagram live broadcast on Wednesday, IFP MP abuse allegations.
Earlier in the week, Zondo had reported his wife as missing, fervently appealing to the public for assistance in locating her. The Forever Yena Newslater confirmed that the KwaZulu-Natal police had launched an investigation into the disappearance of the 28-year-old woman.
Zondo’s Wife Found Safe After Days of Distress
“After several days of anxiety, the IFP was informed today (Wednesday) that Mrs. Simenyiwe Dlomo-Zondo, spouse of IFP Youth Brigade (IFPYB) national chairperson, Comrade Sanele Zondo, has been found and is safe,” stated IFP national spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa in an official communiqué.
Grave Accusations Prompt Party Action
“However, due to the severe nature of the allegations and the charges of abuse and gender-based violence levelled against Comrade Zondo by his wife, the IFP has decided to place Sanele Zondo on special leave from all party functions and duties, with immediate effect and until further notice.”
In her heart-wrenching Instagram live session, Dlomo-Zondo disclosed that she had suffered abuse at the hands of her husband. She expressed incredulity at Zondo’s Facebook post regarding her disappearance, wherein he referred to her as his “beloved wife” and hinted at a connection to his political life.

During this period, the IFP stated that all IFPYB matters would be managed by the national secretary’s office. Zondo is expected to focus on addressing personal and familial concerns.

Earlier this week, Zondo issued a public statement pleading for information concerning his “missing wife.” He reported that Dlomo-Zondo had been unaccounted for since Friday, August 16th.
“My last communication with Simenyiwe was around 11 a.m. on August 16th, when she informed me that she was heading to Richards Bay for some shopping,” he stated.

“Since I was not present when my wife left, I am unable to describe her attire at the time. Since our last conversation, I have been unable to make contact with her.”
“Alarmingly, I have received cryptic messages that have heightened my concerns for her well-being.”
“Both our families are profoundly distressed and are appealing to the community for any assistance they can offer. We are desperate for any leads that could help us find Simenyiwe.”
He emphasised that both families were working closely with law enforcement and the relevant government bodies to ensure all necessary steps were being taken to locate his wife.
